200 HR YTT

I earned my 200HR Yoga Teacher Training certification in April 2019 from Hot House Yoga Richmond, a studio where I had practiced for years—and even worked at the front desk—before enrolling in their teacher training.

After (ish) COVID, when I made the decision to move to Urbanna, I spent my final month in Richmond taking classes at Humble Haven Yoga. That’s where I met Marge!

Since then, Marge has been an incredible mentor. I’ve had the privilege of joining her for numerous workshops and retreats, including a Costa Rica retreat in 2022, a 20-hour CE program: Movement Camp (2022), two retreats in Puerto Morelos, Mexico (2023 & 2024), and a 60+ hour Continuing Education Program, Together in Practice (2024). Most recently, I had the honor of assisting her on a retreat at Yandara Yoga Institute in Baja, Mexico.

I’ve been lucky to have so many amazing yoga role models, and as an eternal student, I can’t wait to continue learning and growing in my practice!

I’ve also had the pleasure of learning from and practicing under Emily and Ashlay, the owners of Rishi Yoga in White Stone, VA.

Ashlay, an E-RYT 500, was born and raised in Rishikesh, India—known as "The Yoga Capital of the World"—and has shared his teachings with students from diverse backgrounds across the globe. Emily, his wife, is also a dedicated yoga instructor & Reiki Grand Master.

Reflections:

  • I look forward to Meghan’s yoga class every week! Meghan has a great talent of making her class a comfortable yet challenging environment for a wide variety of skillsets. I would feel confident recommending her class to those who have never done yoga and regular yoga practicers alike. It’s a treat to have such great yoga classes available for our community.

  • My husband and I enjoy practicing yoga with Meghan. We started more than two years ago and appreciated that someone was willing to put together a class for locals with a nominal fee. The classes are perfect for everyone, from beginners to more advanced. If a pose may be too intense for someone, Meghan always suggests an alternative pose. The stretching and balancing has really helped with day to day activities. While the participants take our class seriously, we always feel free to ask questions along the way, and we find we have a laugh at ourselves occasionally. We love that anyone can feel comfortable at any level, and no one ever feels they aren’t experienced enough or fit enough to join. We truly enjoy our hour disconnected from life’s responsibilities by dedicating an hour to our wellbeing. We’re thankful to Meghan for providing this course in our community.

  • Go to Meghan’s classes! Not only is she a great yoga instructor, she’s a fabulous human. What a combination! And you’ll never be bored, because she’s always changing things up. Sometimes she combines yoga and Pilates. Sometimes it’s yoga, flexibility and balance. Sometimes it’s yoga and strengthening. You’ll be amazed at what she can help you accomplish. And, you’ll become more confident, healthier and even have fun. I could go on and on! It’s good stuff!
